As a traveller, one of the most important things is to make the most of your trip and see all the places you've always dreamed of visiting. For me, that place was Railay, a hidden gem located near Krabi, Thailand. I had come across a beautiful photo of Phra Nang Beach on the internet and knew that I had to make it a part of my travel itinerary. But as I began planning my trip, I realized that there weren't many options for accommodations near Railay, so I decided to stay on Ao Nang Beach instead.
During my stay on Ao Nang Beach, I was caught up with all the night markets and Phi Phi Island tours, and before I knew it, my time in Krabi was coming to an end, and I hadn't made it to Railay yet. According to my plan, I was supposed to take a shared taxi or ferry to Railay in the evening, but due to the off-season, those options were not available. I was left with two options: either to skip Railay and take the only shared taxi that was available in the morning for 450 Bhat or to spend 2000 Bhat for a private taxi in the evening.
Making the decision to either stick to my budget or follow my wishlist was a hard one, and it made for a very difficult night. But in the end, I decided to follow my wishlist and remind myself that the extra money spent today will come back, but this moment won't return.
So, I took a Longtail boat ride to Railay, and it was an experience like no other. The ride was less bumpy but more thrilling as you are just above the sea, and you can see the water so close. The first look at Railay made me realize that I had made the right decision. The place was beautiful, and it was everything I had imagined it to be.
A short walk along the Phra Nang Caves takes you to Phra Nang Beach, and the view is breathtaking. The beach is known for its beauty, and it's a must-see destination. At one corner of the beach, there is a penis temple, and locals believe it blesses fertility.
After a little me-time, I came back to Krabi city, found a local shop to eat and started my journey to the next destination, Phuket. The journey to Railay may have been a bit difficult to plan and may have required extra budget, but it was worth it for the memories and the beauty of the place. The crystal clear waters, the white sandy beaches, and the lush green jungle, all made for an unforgettable experience.
As a traveler, it's essential to be open to new experiences, and that's exactly what I did when I decided to visit Railay. I stepped out of my comfort zone and took a chance, and I'm so glad I did. It's a place that's not on the usual tourist trail, and it's a hidden gem that not many people know about. But that's exactly what makes it so special. The fact that it's not overrun by tourists and that you can truly appreciate the natural beauty of the place.
If you're planning a trip to Thailand, and you're looking for a unique and off the beaten path experience, then Railay is the place for you. Don't miss out on this hidden gem, and plan your visit to Railay today. Trust me, it's worth it.
